Losing You
I’ve been looking for you
There you are
Just inside my childhood. A first face.
All along I thought you’d gone
But, just as somewhere, someplace, childhood never ends
So you go on, alive in my entwined delights
In all my early joys
Your smiles
Your touches
All my much loved toys
You’re in the very pages of my baby books
I see you in the love,
The lessons learned
The corners of my looks
The “you” of you
is running in my blood
I just misplaced you for a little while
Misunderstood
But there you are!
Just behind my face
I’ll see you there forever in my smile
